Description: Governors portrait of Wilson Shannon (1803-1877) that hangs in the Ohio Statehouse. He served as the 13th and 15th Governor of Ohio, from 1838-1840 and 1842-1844. He was elected Governor of Ohio in 1838 after receiving the Democratic Party nomination. The following election he lost to Thomas Corwin, but was reelected in 1842. View on Ohio Memory.
