Description: This is a two-sided flag that dates from 1912-1916 and has a United States national flag with 48 stars on one side (not shown) and an Imperial German flag of 1867-1918 on the other. On the German flag side with embroidery decoration, laurels and two hands shaking are the embroidered words "Die Deutsche Gesellschaft Gegrundet / 13 ten Juli, 1874 / BUCYRUS, OHIO." The words refer to a German association founded on July 13, 1874, in Bucyrus. The flag is made of silk taffeta. Eight brass rings are attached to the halyard end. Leslie and Dallas Menges of Ashland, Ohio, donated the flag to the Ohio Historical Society in 1974. View on Ohio Memory.
