Description: The Virginia flag was adopted in 1861. It has a blue field with the state seal in the center. The circle has a flower border with two figures in the center. Above the figures is the word Virginia and below is the state motto; "Sic semper tryanis". The motto means "Thus always to tyrants. The woman represents the Goddess Virtue and the man on the ground is the fallen tyrant. His crown is lying beside him. The flag is rectangular, measuring 125 by 185 cm. The fabric is wool.
