Description: Photomechanical reproduction of a portrait depicting Rev. Joshua Young (1823-1904), who was an agent of the Underground Railroad in Burlington, Chittenden County, Vermont from 1852 to 1860. He also served as pastor of the local Unitarian Church. This photograph was sent to Wilbur H. Siebert by Theron S. Dean. Siebert (1866-1961) began researching the Underground Railroad in the 1890s as a way to interest his students in history.
