Description: Portrait of Frank Purnell, ca. 1930-1939. As a young man, Purnell joined the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, working in the company's city office. With James A. Campbell's recommendation, Purnell became a member of the government's steel division in Washington D.C. Purnell later returned to Youngstown as vice president of Youngstown Sheet and Tube. In 1926, he was promoted to assistant president, and in 1930, Purnell was named third president of the company. View on Ohio Memory.
