Rimsherd   Save
Edward Harness Collection
Description: Three fragments from the rim and body of a zoned, incised ceramic pot have been glued together. The decoration at the upper part of the rim includes incised crosshatching, bordered at the bottom by a row of indentations or punctates. The neck portion is undecorated. Just before the shoulder area is a horizontal incised line. Below that on the body of the sherd are a series of incised diagonal lines. The area between the lines has been smoothed while the area between pairs of lines has been decorated with small squarish indentations that may been created with a wooden stamp. The sherd is brown and dark gray in color. Item was excavated from Harness Mound in Ross County, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
