Description: Small round object, the size of a marble, is made of steatite that is black and brownish black in color. The sphere has incised lines that resemble a stylized face with a wide mouth, represented by a straight line. The nostrils are curved and form an upside down U-shape. The eyes are spirals with curved lines that extend to the back of the head. Running across the top of the head from between the nostrils to the back could be a stylized headdress. Item was excavated from Seip Mound in Paxton Township, Ross County, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
