John Seip Collection
Description: An effigy of an owl, possibly a barn owl, has its head turned facing backwards. Face is realistically carved. There are feathers on the wings on the back. There is one hole drilled on the back just under the beak and another at the base of the tail. The item is hollowed out. The effigy is made of black stone. Item was excavated from Seip Mound in Paxton Township, Ross County, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
