Description: Wilson Shannon was a Democratic politician and lawyer from Belmont County, Ohio. He was the first Ohio governor to be born in Ohio, and served as the 14th governor of Ohio from 1838-1840, and as the 16th governor from 1842-1844. Shannon also served in the United States House of Representatives from 1853-1855, and later was appointed governor of Kansas by President Franklin Pierce. View on Ohio Memory.
