Columbus North High Street photograph   Save
Ohio History Connection
Description: This 7" x 5" photograph was taken along North High St. looking south from the viaduct in Columbus, Ohio. Columbus earned its reputation as "The Arch City" because of the dozens of metal (formerly wooden) arches that spanned High Street at the turn of the twentieth century. The arches illuminated the thoroughfare and eventually became the means by which electric power was provided to the new streetcars. View on Ohio Memory.
