Description: Publication titled "Substance of a sermon preached on the occasion of the death of Rev. Robert R. Roberts, late senior bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church." This sermon was preached by Reverend Calvin Washington Ruter of the Indiana Conference in the city of Madison, Indiana, on June 6, 1843. This book was published in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the Methodist Book Concern, 1843. Robert Richford Roberts was a Methodist pastor and circuit rider throughout western Pennsylvania, Maryland and Ohio. He was elected Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1816--the first married man to hold this position. After moving from Pennsylvania to Ohio, and then on to Indiana, he helped to found Indiana Asbury University, now known as DePauw University. View on Ohio Memory.
