'Electors of Wayne County' circular   Save
Ohio History Connection Archives/Library
Description: This circular was produced by political supporters of Joseph H. Larwill, including William McFall, William Nailor, Mathew Johnston, and Francis H. Foltz, most likely during Larwill's candidacy for state senate. The circular refutes a broadside published earlier that day, which claimed that Larwill was in favor of a bill that would have limited the franchise in Wooster, Ohio, to men who owned property. Larwill was born in England in 1788 and emigrated to Ohio in 1793 with his parents. In the early 1800s, he became a surveyor and land agent, and was co-founder of the towns of Mansfield and Wooster. He served in the U. S. Army during the War of 1812, and took part in the siege of Fort Meigs under William Henry Harrison. Larwill served as a state senator from 1826 to 1829. View on Ohio Memory.
