Description: Before becoming the sixth governor of Ohio, Thomas Worthington (1773-1827) surveyed Ohio lands. Born in Virginia, Worthington came to the Ohio Territory as part of Edward Tiffin's exploring party in 1796. Two years later, he brought his family to live at Adena in Chillicothe. Worthington used this field notebook to record his surveys in the vicinity of present-day Vinton and Hocking counties. The notebook is approximately 75 pages and measures 13.5" x 8.5" (34.29 x 21.59 cm). Two pages are included here. View on Ohio Memory.
