Description: A black and white postcard of the Berry-Lincoln Store located at the Lincoln's New Salem State Park Historic Site in New Salem, Illinois. Lincoln’s New Salem is a reconstructed historic site preserving the village of New Salem from the 1830s, during which Abraham Lincoln resided for six years during his twenties. Abraham Lincoln along with William Berry owned the store and it served as a general store and post office for the community. This was the second store owned by Berry and Lincoln. They eventually moved to this second larger location after they outgrew their first store. Abraham Lincoln was employed as the Postmaster for New Salem for three years in the 2nd Berry-Lincoln Store, located down the street from the 1st Berry-Lincoln Store. View on Ohio Memory.
