Jeffrey Manufacturing Company Skip Hoist Construction   Save
Jeffrey Manufacturing Company Collection
Description: To move bulk material, like coal, vertically, the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company, Columbus, Ohio, installed a skip hoist next to railroad tracks, August 1, 1919. Once the material was hauled up in a large steel bucket, it was dumped into a container called a hopper. The bottom of the hopper could be opened to allow some of its contents to flow out as needed.
