Description: This bucket elevator made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio, used a Patnoe chain made by the Jeffrey chain division, ca. 1905. The buckets were made by the Ohio Malleable Iron Company, a Columbus-based subsidiary of Jeffrey. Bucket elevators were used to move bulk material, like coal or rock, vertically in a continuous motion. The name of the young man in the photograph is not recorded. View on Ohio Memory.
