Description: This photograph shows the discharge end of a longwall coal conveyor built by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio in use at the Montevallo Mining Company, Birmingham, Alabama, 1918. It was used to move cut coal from areas in a mine where railroad tracks for coal cars could not be laid. Conveyors could be lengthened as needed. View on Ohio Memory.
