Jeffrey Stone Bucket Elevator   Save
Jeffrey Manufacturing Company Collection
Description: This building contained a bucket elevator built by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio at the Marble Cliff Quarries in Columbus, Ohio, 1923. Jeffrey bucket elevators could move from 6 to 80 tons of material per hour, depending on the type of elevator and material to be moved. These elevators consisted of endless chains provided with buckets, of steel or malleable iron, spaced at short, equal intervals on the chain. The yard locomotive in the photograph is an 0-4-0 "Saddleback" type, referring to the water tank that sat astride the boiler. View on Ohio Memory.
