Description: Model 30A shearing machine made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio on display in the factory, 1926. The cutter bar was used to slice into the coal face. On the sides were two drills which were used to bore into the coal seam. Explosive charges were inserted in the holes and the coal face was then "shot down". View on Ohio Memory.
