Description: Tray elevator made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio and used by the Curtis Publishing Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1921. Tray elevators are miniature platform elevators that constantly move up and down through hatchways or floor openings. They are used primarily to move boxes, barrels and bags between floors of warehouses and storage buildings. In this photograph, rolls of paper are being moved from floor to floor.
