Description: Caption reads: "Georgian Inn, Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio." Built in 1833 by Daniel Sifford for homeowner Samuel Maccracken, a financier and Ohio University trustee. Built in the style of English country homes, the house had the kitchen and servants' quarters in the basement. In the 1880s the house was purchased by a Maccracken grandson and remodeled in a Victorian style with the kitchen moved upstairs to an addition at the back of the house. Known as The Georgian because of its use as a tearoom in the twentieth century, it was purchased by the Fairfield Heritage Association in 1972 and restored to its original state. View on Ohio Memory.
