Description: This home was built in 1901-1902 for General Charles H. Grosvenor, who was a general in the Union Army during the Civil War, a lawyer, and a U.S. representative for 20 years. Upon retiring from Congress, Grosvenor returned to Athens and commissioned his cousin, Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, a noted architect, to design the home. After remaining in the family for almost fifty years, the house was donated by the granddaughter of Gen. Grosvenor, Professor Emerita of French, Constance Leete, to the Episcopal Church who leased the building to Ohio University. The building, now named the Konneker Alumni Center, was purchased by Ohio University in 1980 with funding from Dr. Wilfred R. and Ann Lee Konneker. View on Ohio Memory.
