Description: This photograph is of Dr. Peter Allen's home, located on Williamsfield Kinsman Road (County Road 277), just north of Kinsman Rd NE (OH 87), in Kinsman, Ohio. This home was built in the Federal style by Will Smith between the years 1800-1824. It was added tot the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Dr. Peter Allen, former surgeon in the Western Army under General Simon Perkins, began his practice in Kinsman 1808, using a log cabin as an office. In 1835 he was elected the first president of the Ohio Medical Convention, which later became the Ohio State Medical Society, of which he was president in 1856. His medical saddlebags on exhibited at the Howard Ditrick Museum of Historical Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. View on Ohio Memory.
