Ohio Guide Photographs
Description: Reverse reads: "Old Hotel at Miamisburg, O." A fire escape can be found at the front of this light brick 3-story building, and a sign for "King's Sandwich Shop, Fruits - Vegetables" is on the corner of the building. A half circle fan window is above the third floor at the end of the building, which is located on a corner. More information needed about this specific building and location. Originally, the small community had been known as “Holes’ Station” since about 1797, when Zachariah Hole settled there with his family from Virginia and built a stockade on the west bank of the Miami River opposite from the mouth of Bear Creek. Miamisburg is home to a Miami Indian Burial Mound, was the site of one of the first post-war U.S Atomic Energy Commission facilities, beginning in 1947 and is also the home of many large corporations. Miamisburg is generally known as a walkable community where shopping, dining, recreational, and religious destinations are easily accessible by foot. View on Ohio Memory.
