Merom Expanding Stem Point   Save
Earl Hisey Collection
Description: This small point of the Merom Expanding Stem type has a triangular blade, deep corner notches, and a small base that flares outward slightly. The point curves slightly along the longitudinal axis, reflecting the shape of the flake from which it was made. This piece was made from light gray Flint Ridge flint and comes from the Late Archaic Period. People of the Late Archaic were hunter-gatherers, and were among the first in the region to make metal artifacts from copper found near Lake Superior. View on Ohio Memory.
